In Colombia we work with Prosperidad Social (Social Prosperity) and the Unidad de Víctimas (Unit for the Attention and Integral Reparation of the Victims) in the implementation of two graduation programs.
PRODUCIENDO POR MI FUTURO (PRODUCING FOR MY FUTURE)
The first Graduation pilot project started in Colombia in 2013, and it managed to reach 1,000 participants. After this successful start, in 2015 the Colombian government decided to significantly increase the Graduation scale, which now includes two programs. The first, “Producing for my Future,” was co-designed by Fundación Capital and Prosperidad Social, the government agency in charge of social policy, and it reached 10,000 participants. This program demonstrates the commitment of the Colombian government to help increase the productive, financial, human, and social assets of the population living in extreme poverty in rural areas.
TRANSFORMANDO MI FUTURO (TRANSFORMING MY FUTURE)
Fundación Capital also offers support and technical assistance to the Victims Unit for the implementation of “Transformando mi Futuro” (TMF), a project specifically designed for victims of the Colombian armed conflict who live in extreme poverty. This program strengthens the entrepreneur capabilities of the participants, building upon best practices and lessons learned from the Graduation approach. TMF offers mentorship and support to the victims in their productive projects, within the frame of the so-called “reparation process”; Through personalized accompaniment and the use of digital technologies, we facilitate the development of the participants life plan and their own business, promoting the best use of the compensation money. In its initial phase (in 2014) the program reached 1,050 victims in ten different municipalities in Colombia. To date, the program has already worked with more than 3,000 participants.
- PMF: 11,000 families graduated from the program
