Vietnam is a growing country with a predominantly rural population, where financial inclusion is a challenge, especially among women and the most vulnerable sectors.
In 2018, Fundación Capital started a project funded by SWIFT and in partnership with Tinh Thuong One Member Limited Liability Microfinance Institution (TYM), a Vietnamese financial institution.
The goal of the project was to develop a two-way messaging system designed to improve the financial habits of 500 clients in two TYM branches. The system, implemented over 7 weeks, involved sending reminders and messages that encouraged good financial practices through Zalo (for clients with smartphones) and SMS (for those without internet access). Additionally, focus groups, interviews, and training workshops were conducted with TYM's technical teams.
It was decided to continue with basic financial education for clients with smaller businesses and advanced training in digital marketing for larger clients.
This system also allowed TYM to better understand the financial habits and preferences of its clients and their businesses, which facilitated the offering of products and services that met their specific needs.
This project not only strengthened the financial capacity of the women participants but also improved the savings strategies of many of them, with a response rate increasing from 27% to 66% over the weeks, showing a clear interest in continuing to apply what they had learned.
We partner with organizations, businesses, and local governments to maximize our impact in the community. Through strategic collaboration, we drive initiatives that create meaningful and sustainable change.
