In the rural communities of Ilama, Achotes, Parque Bailey, and El Triunfo, most families generate income through small businesses, such as the production and sale of hammocks. However, although 99% of the population has a source of income, nearly 90% do not keep track of their finances or have savings systems, which limits their economic stability and ability to plan.
To address this situation, with funding from Food for the Poor and in partnership with Cepudo, we strengthened the financial and digital capacities of families through technological tools and collaborative learning processes. Through our digital solution LISTA+, we promoted financial education and access to formal financial services, enabling families to improve their economic management.
Our strategy was based on the active participation of community leaders, who facilitated access to tablets and supported participants in their training. With this approach, we promoted the transformation of norms and beliefs about savings, consumption, and access to financial services, which encouraged the economic autonomy of individuals.
