Conectadas

Supporting Women Entrepreneurs in their Digital Transition

Colombia
2021 to 2024

About the Initiative

Economic independence is crucial for women to make autonomous decisions and break cycles of violence. However, the pandemic exacerbated the challenges faced by female entrepreneurs, particularly in small businesses in vulnerable situations due to a lack of resources and technological skills. Many women, affected by poverty and unemployment, were pushed into self-employment without the necessary capital or digital tools. Moreover, the "time poverty" resulting from unpaid care work makes entrepreneurship a flexible option, but limited access to technology remains a significant barrier.

Conectadas was launched in collaboration with The Internet Society Foundation to address this need, increasing the entrepreneurial capacity, income, resilience, and self-efficacy of women entrepreneurs, enabling them to strengthen their businesses through the use of the internet, with a gender-sensitive approach that promotes equity.

Our methodology integrates training and support through a transmedia strategy that combines virtual and in-person methods, both individual and group-based. Each participant develops a personalized plan for their digital transition, improving their skills in business management, financial health, and technology use. Activities include group workshops, personalized coaching sessions, webinars, and digital outreach strategies. Additionally, through our digital tool LISTA+, we offer courses on financial education and gender norms transformation, supporting practical learning tailored to the needs of each woman entrepreneur.
