In Colombia, thousands of Venezuelan migrants are finding new opportunities to improve their economic well-being through financial inclusion. Although challenges remain in accessing financial services, more and more migrants are acquiring tools and knowledge that strengthen their stability and autonomy.
Together with Humanity & Inclusion and with funding from the French Development Agency, we developed Cerrando Brechas, an initiative that facilitates access to financial products and services for migrants in vulnerable situations, with a special focus on women and people with disabilities.
The program focuses on three key strategies. First, it strengthens individuals' financial capabilities through a train-the-trainer methodology and the use of digital tools, promoting better financial health. These solutions have been designed to meet the specific needs of people with visual or hearing disabilities, ensuring their access to key information. Additionally, we accompany financial service providers to expand their offerings and adapt their products to the needs of individuals, with an inclusive approach that considers gender perspective and accessibility for people with disabilities. Finally, it promotes spaces for dialogue and the exchange of learning among stakeholders in the financial inclusion ecosystem in Colombia, fostering more equitable and sustainable solutions.
